چکیده

In this article, the authors address a problem of the estimation of high velocity optical flow. When images are captured by conventional image sensors, the problem of the optical flow estimation is illposed if only the temporal constancy of the image brightness is the valid assumption. When given images are captured by the correlation image sensors, though, you can make the problem of the optical flow estimation well-posed under some condition and can locally estimate the unique optical flow at each pixel in each single frame. The condition though would not be satisfied when the flow velocity is high. In this article, we propose a method that can estimate the normal component of high velocity optical flow using only the local image values in each single frame. The equation used for estimating the normal velocity is theoretically derived and the condition the equation holds is also revealed.

تحلیل حرکت جریانات دریائی در تصاویر حرارتی سطح آب دریا

Oceanographic images obtained from environmental satellites by a wide range of sensors allow characterizing natural phenomena through different physical measurements. For instance Sea Surface Temperature (SST) images, altimetry data and ocean color data can be used for characterizing currents and vortex structures in the ocean. The purpose of this thesis is to derive a relatively complete frame...

The Statistics of Optical Flow

When processing image sequences some representation of image motion must be derived as a first stage. The most often used representation is the optical flow field, which is a set of velocity measurements of image patterns. It is well known that it is very difficult to estimate accurate optical flow at locations in an image which correspond to scene discontinuities. What is less well known, howe...

Standing Handball Throwing Velocity Estimation with a Single Wrist-Mounted Inertial Sensor

Background. It is well known that overarm throwing is one of the most performed activities in the handball. Shoulder and glenohumeral injuries incidence are high in handball because of both pass, and shooting activity was executed repeatedly in high angular speed. Objectives. This study set out to investigate the usefulness of inexpensive commercial inertial movement sensors for prediction of ...

Analog Velocity Sensing Circuits based on Bio-Inspired Correlation Neural Networks

We propose simple analog MOS circuits producing onedimensional optical flows aiming at the realization of compact motion-sensing circuits. In the proposed circuit, the optical flow is computed by a number of local motion sensors, as in biological motion-sensing systems. Mimicking the structure of biologicalmotion detectors made the circuit structure quite simple, compared with conventional velo...

Robust optical flow estimation using semi-invariant local features

This paper presents a robust algorithm for computation of 2-D optical flow using the principle of conservation of a set of invariant local features that are representatives of local gray-level properties in an image. Specifically, a set of rotation-invariant local orthogonal Zernike moments is used as invariant features. These are inherently integral-based features, and therefore are expected t...
